Soreide Law Group is reviewing potential investor claims on behalf of individuals who incurred losses from securities broker Joao Amorim Pinto [CRD: 6298233, New York, New York]. Pinto has worked for Spartan Capital Securities LLC since October 22, 2019. Read below to learn more about Pinto’s disclosures, which include FINRA sanctions and an investment dispute.

Pinto Sanctioned For Unsuitable, Excessive Trading At Spartan Capital Securities

Notably, on November 21, 2023, FINRA sanctioned Joao Pinto for violations related to his obligations to act in the best interest of clients, according to Letter of Acceptance, Waiver, and Consent No. 2018056490307. Evidently, Pinto consented to the sanctions without admitting or denying FINRA’s allegations. Specifically, while employed at Spartan Capital Securities LLC, Pinto was found to have violated the Best Interest Obligation under Rule 15l-1 of the Securities Exchange Act. Supposedly, Pinto recommended excessive and unsuitable trading in a retired client's account, which went against the client's best interest. Consequently, Pinto's trading generated $92,237 in total trading costs ($83,484 in commissions alone) and resulted in $141,051 in realized losses for the client. The FINRA suspension is from December 18, 2023, to March 17, 2024.

Joao Pinto Disclosed Allegations Of Misrepresentation By Spartan Client

Also, a client of Spartan Capital Securities LLC raised concerns about Pinto's sales practices, according to FINRA Arbitration No. 22-02144 dated October 7, 2022. Supposedly, the securities broker is accused of misrepresentations, negligence, omissions, and churning in November 2019. This concerned over-the-counter equities and stocks, resulting in alleged damages of $268,386. The case is currently pending. Pinto denied these allegations, asserting that the client was fully aware of the risks and commissions.
