Soreide Law Group has filed a FINRA arbitration on behalf of our client (Claimant) against:
KATALYST SECURITIES, LLC, and their former registered representative, PETER K JANSSEN (Respondents).
The lawsuit alleges that in 2017, KATALYST SECURITIES broker, PETER K JANSSEN convinced the Claimant to invest her life savings of $94,930.40 into a crypto venture in digital mining called “Mega Block Chain.” The Claimant was a student in her thirties at the time and was allegedly convinced by PETER K JANSSEN that this investment would return from between ten and one hundred times her investment, and she could pay off all of her student loan debt in a relatively short time.
The lawsuit alleges that KATALYST SECURITIES offered and promoted the “Mega Block Chain” investment and advertised it on their website giving it legitimacy. The Claimant, according to the lawsuit, is not an accredited investor, and this investment was not legally allowed to be presented to her in violation of Regulation D of the Securities Act of 1933. At the time of this investment, the Claimant had no other investments in stocks or bonds. The Claimant was unsophisticated and was unaccredited. The lawsuit alleges after months of conversations with PETER K JANSSEN, KATALYST SECURITIES, and “Mega Block Chain,” the Claimant was promised a full refund both verbally and in writing. This promise was never honored to return her funds.
The lawsuit is alleging: negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, and negligent supervision.
According to FINRA’s BrokerCheck, available to the public on FINRA’s website, PETER K JANSSEN, has been in the securities industry for 10 years and has been listed with 3 firms.
