OBERT PERLMAN Cause Your Investment Losses?
Soreide Law Group is evaluating possible claims on behalf of investors who experienced losses because of UBS Financial Services securities broker Robert Perlman (CRD#: 1892131, New York, New York). Notably, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”) shows that three customers of Perlman disputed his sales practices. Here’s a summary of those claims:
UBS Customer Files Dispute Suggesting Robert Perlman Recommended Unsuitable, Misrepresented Strategy
A customer of UBS Financial Services brought FINRA Arbitration #: 19-01410 on May 24, 2019. Allegedly, Robert Perlman made bad investment recommendations regarding an options overlay strategy. Supposedly, Perlman persuaded the customer to maintain this strategy when it was unreasonable or inappropriate for the customer. In addition, the customer alleged that Perlman misrepresented facts about the strategy. For this reason, the customer demanded $750,000.00 in damages in this ongoing matter.
Allegedly, the customer was placed in UBS’ Yield Enhancement Strategy (“YES”). Evidently, YES, which raised more than $5,000,000,000.00 in assets, used options trades containing the same expiration dates but different strike prices. Apparently YES was supposed to limit exposure during market volatility. However, it lost nearly $60,000,000.00 due to 2018’s bond and stock market volatility.
Credit Suisse Securities, Lehman Brothers Customers Suggest Perlman Made Improper Trades
FINRA BrokerCheck reports that a Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC customer brought a complaint in 2013. First of all, the customer contended that Robert Perlman made trades which the customer did not authorize. Secondly, Perlman supposedly failed to comply with the customer’s requests or instructions in connection with certain equity investments. For this reason, the customer alleged $190,000.00 in damages. However, this matter closed without resolution in 2014.
Previously, a Lehman Brothers customer filed a dispute about Robert Perlman. That customer contended that Perlman gave bad advice and made false statements about the customer’s account. It appears that the customer experienced losses on OTC equities as a result. However, Lehman Brothers denied this claim.
