March 20, 2019 Complaint Concerning Cetera Investment Services, Clara Tang, Involves Forgery Allegations
Evidently, a Cetera Investment Services LLC customer took issue with Clara Tang’s conduct in filing a March 20, 2019 complaint with the brokerage firm. Allegedly, Tang permitted someone to forge the customer’s signature on investment documents. Then, the customer’s funds relocated without the customer’s permission into bad investments including real estate securities. Supposedly, the customer’s funds transferred to illiquid real estate investments which may have been unsuitable for the customer. Particularly, the customer claimed that Tang, or someone under Tang’s supervision, invested the customer’s assets in Business Development Corporation of America (BDCA), which is a New York, New York based business development company. Typically, BDC investments are difficult to sell because they are not traded on a national exchange. Plus, they can contain high up-front costs. Allegedly, the BDCA investments was not suitable for the customer.
Secondly, the customer claimed that Cetera Investment Services or Clara Tang violated a fiduciary responsibility to the customer. Thirdly, Tang allegedly violated an investment agreement or contract under which the customer was a party.
