FINRA expelled securities broker Jason Brooks Head [CRD: 4920135, Tuscaloosa, Alabama], according to disclosures on FINRA BrokerCheck. Jason Head worked for Morgan Stanley from August 23, 2019 to January 10, 2024, and for BBVA Securities Inc. from May 16, 2013, to August 23, 2019. Keep reading to learn more about the client complaints involving this broker.

FINRA Sanctioned Head For Conversion Of Client Funds

Evidently, on January 15, 2025, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) issued Case: 2024081567201 sanctioning Jason Head for infractions. Notably, FINRA alleged that Head misappropriated more than $498,000 from two clients for personal use.

Summary Of The Regulatory Action Against Jason Head

Jason Head began working in the securities industry in 2005. Most recently, he was registered as a General Securities Representative and Investment Company and Variable Contracts Products Representative with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. His employment with Morgan Stanley ended on January 5, 2024. Shortly after, on March 13, 2024, the firm amended its regulatory filing to disclose a client complaint regarding unauthorized use of a line of credit account.

According to FINRA, between July 2020 and November 2023, while still associated with Morgan Stanley, Head unlawfully took over $498,000 from two firm clients.

Withdrawals Without Client Authorization

In one instance, Head withdrew at least $231,733 from five brokerage, advisory, and credit accounts belonging to one client. These withdrawals occurred without the client’s knowledge or authorization. Head transferred the funds into accounts he controlled and also used electronic transfers to cover personal expenses.

In a separate instance, Jason Head withdrew at least $267,000 between January 2021 and August 2022 from another client’s line of credit account. In seven of those transactions, the client was unaware and had not authorized the transfers. For one transaction involving $80,000, Head allegedly convinced the client to approve the withdrawal by falsely claiming the funds would be used to invest in an initial public offering. Allegedly, no such investment opportunity existed, and the funds were instead deposited into Head’s own bank account.

As a result, FINRA determined that Head violated FINRA Rule 2150(a), which prohibits misuse of client funds, and Rule 2010, which requires associated persons to maintain high standards of commercial honor.

Sanctions Imposed

In response to these violations, FINRA imposed a permanent bar on Head from associating with any FINRA member firm in any capacity. This sanction became effective upon FINRA’s acceptance of the Letter of Acceptance, Waiver, and Consent (AWC) signed by Head on January 15, 2025.

Head Disclosed Misappropriation Allegations By Morgan Stanley Client

Also, a client of Morgan Stanley contested Jason Head’s sales practices, according to a complaint. Allegedly, Head misappropriated funds from the client's account. Supposedly Head caused the client to sustain damages. Therefore, Morgan Stanley opted to settle the matter on March 28, 2025, by compensating the client in the amount of $60,000.

Morgan Stanley Investor Accused Jason Head Of Unauthorized Trading

Additionally, on February 12, 2024, a Morgan Stanley client filed a complaint about Jason Head. The client alleged that Head engaged in unauthorized trading in connection with the client's liquidity access line from 2021 to 2024. Because of this, the client allegedly sustained damages on non-broker-dealer affiliate products. Consequently, the client requested damages from Morgan Stanley or Head.
