KEVIN P SMITH, Formerly of Morgan Stanley, Barred by FINRA

KEVIN P SMITH (KEVIN PETER SMITH) CRD#: 1363302, a former Morgan Stanley financial advisor from Minneapolis, Minnesota, was barred by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Inc. (FINRA) from acting as a broker or otherwise associating with a broker-dealer firm on October 8, 2018.
According to FINRA, without admitting or denying the findings, KEVIN P SMITH consented to the sanction and to the entry of findings that he refused to appear and provide FINRA with on-the-record testimony in connection with FINRA’s investigation concerning his termination from the member firm, and allegations regarding certain actions Smith took while serving as trustee for the trust of a family member and the firm client, and discretionary trading in the firm client's account.
Smith was discharged from Morgan Stanley in October of 2016 following allegations, according to FINRA’s BrokerCheck, that the, “representative's activities while trustee on a family member's trust and related to a trade that may have been executed without confirming with the client beforehand, according to the client.” Also according to FINRA’s BrokerCheck, KEVIN P SMITH, had been in the securities for thirty-one years.  Smith joined Morgan Stanley in Minneapolis in November of 2007.  Throughout his years in the securities industry, Smith was listed with seven firms. KEVIN P SMITH has four Disclosures on his FINRA report.  One is a “Regulatory” report in which Smith was barred by FINRA, two are “Employment Separations” and one is a “Customer Dispute.”  In the dispute from June of 2016, a client alleged the purchase of two structured notes in 2015 had been misrepresented.  The settlement amount was $34,444.89.
