Northstar Financial Services (Bermuda) Ltd. Losses

Soreide Law Group is investigating the former Cetera Investment Services LLC, broker Ching-Yun Linda Fang (Linda Fang CRD# 1843163). Linda Fang, and other brokers, allegedly recommended Northstar Financial Services (Bermuda) Ltd. to their clients who have suffered significant investment losses. Soreide Law Group currently has nine separate actions against various brokers who sold Northstar Financial Services (Bermuda) Ltd. Investors have hired Soreide Law Group to recover their losses from brokerage firms that sold this investment including, Ocean Financial Services, LLC, in Miami, Florida.

Northstar Financial Services (Bermuda) Ltd. based in Bermuda, is an annuity and life insurance company. Northstar investors were often recommended this investment by their brokers or financial advisors. In addition, investors may have been drawn to the investment due to the tax benefits from an investment based in Bermuda. Many investors may have been promised a low-risk and conservative investment, when in fact it was not. Northstar Bermuda suspended monthly income distributions as of 2020, and investors are also dealing with significant losses due to the company filing for bankruptcy and the criminal conviction of owner, Greg Lindberg.  It is not likely Northstar Financial Services (Bermuda) Ltd. will be able to pay back the amount owed to fixed-rate contract holders.

Even though investors may not get their money back from Northstar Bermuda, they may be able to file claims against the financial institutions that recommended and sold Northstar Financial Services (Bermuda) Ltd.

According to FINRA’s BrokerCheck, Linda Fang was registered with Cetera Investment Services LLC in City Of Industry, California from 2015 to 2018. She was in the securities industry for 20 years and was listed both as a broker and investment adviser with 11 firms.  She is currently not registered. Linda Fang had a customer complaint on her CRD report which is currently pending alleging, “The client alleges the features of the investment product were misrepresented.” The customer is seeking $2,300,000 in damages.

Many other brokerage firms sold Northstar Financial Services Bermuda Ltd., and presented it to their clients as a safe, secure, and totally liquid investment.
