SHAHAB SEYEDSHAHAB TAGNAVIDINANI (SHAHAB TAGHAVIDINANI, SEAN TAG, SEAN TAGHAVI, SEAN S TAGNAVIDINANI) was fined $5,000 and suspended for 45 days by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) for allegedly trading in a deceased client’s non-discretionary account.

According to the FINRA report, Shahab TagnaviDinani, without admitting or denying FINRA’s findings,  consented to the sanctions and to the entry of findings that he allegedly placed unauthorized trades in a deceased customer's account.

FINRA’s findings stated that the customer maintained a non-discretionary account at his member firm, with TagnaviDinani as her registered representative. According to FINRA, the customer was the only person with authority to authorize transactions in the account. FINRA states that the customer died on January 17, 2021, which Shahab TagnaviDinani allegedly learned the following day.

FINRA alleges that between the customer's death and November 2021, TagnaviDinani allegedly placed unauthorized buy and sell orders in the account. According to FINRA, Shahab TagnaviDinani allegedly discussed several of the trades with surviving members of the customer's family, but those individuals did not have trading authorization over the account. FINRA stated that TagnaviDinani received $1,998.77 in commissions from the unauthorized trades.

According to a recent article in Financial Advisor IQ, Shahab TagnaviDinani, practices as Sean Taghavi, and was discharged by Park Avenue Securities in January 2022 for allegedly trading in the deceased client’s account and, in some instances, accepting trade orders from an unauthorized party.  During the 11 months after the client’s death, TagnaviDinani, allegedly executed a total of 48 unauthorized trades in the account, according to the consent document.

According to FINRA’s BrokerCheck, available to the public on FINRA’s website, Shahab TagnaviDinani, has been in the securities industry for 28 years and has been with 8 firms. TagnaviDinani was with Park Avenue Securities, LLC of Irvine, California, from 2014 to 2022. TagnaviDinani is currently registered with Sovereign Global Advisors of Denver, Colorado, since February 2022, approximately one month after leaving Park Avenue Securities.
