Clients File Disputes About Barred Country Capital Broker Adam Lopez
Investor Alert! The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”) reports alarming allegations of improprieties by securities broker Adam Michael Lopez [CRD#: 5562750, Springfield, Illinois]. Notably, no less than 11 clients brought disputes about the securities broker, who associated with Country Capital Management Company from September 16, 2008 to September 21, 2018. Moreover, FINRA barred the broker for stonewalling an investigation, and Illinois Department of Insurance suspended him for dishonesty. Adam Lopez Allegedly Deceives Country Capital Client
Apparently, on December 16, 2019, a Country Capital client filed a complaint about Adam Lopez. Mainly, the client alleged that Lopez was deceptive in connection with mutual fund transactions. It appears that the securities broker converted the client's funds. Therefore, the client requested $2,000,000 in compensation from Country Capital or Lopez. This complaint is pending a resolution.
Country Capital Client Indicates That Lopez Converted Funds
Evidently, on October 24 ,2018, a Country Capital client filed Civil Suit#: 2018-L-000207 concerning Adam Lopez. Allegedly, Lopez took possession of the client’s funds without authorization and then used the funds for his benefit. Not only that, but the securities broker seemingly misled the client with regard to mutual fund trades. Consequently, on November 22, 2019, Country Capital settled this dispute by way of paying the client $1,400,000.
Adam Lopez Allegedly Misled Client About Mutual Funds And Life Insurance
Apparently, a client of Country Capital contested Adam Lopez’s sales practices by filing a complaint dated October 25, 2018. Allegedly, Lopez misled the client about mutual fund transactions. It appears that on three occasions, Lopez caused the client to withdrawal funds from the client’s brokerage account to purchase insurance policies. Evidently, Country Capital settled the matter on January 14, 2019 through compensating the client in the amount of $32,299.58.
FINRA Bars Lopez
Notably, FINRA issued Acceptance, Waiver and Consent (AWC) #: 2018059935201 on December 17, 2018 barring Adam Lopez for failing to comply with Rules 8210 and 2010. Evidently, when FINRA was investigating the circumstances of Country Capital’s termination of Lopez, it asked Lopez for his files and relevant information. Apparently, Country Capital discovered through an internal probe that Lopez was investigated by a foreign regulator having jurisdiction over his investment transactions. Also, Country Capital reported that its insurance company affiliate ended relations with Lopez because of his dishonesty. Evidently, Lopez refused to cooperate with FINRA when it probed him on these issues.
Lopez Suspended by Illinois Securities Department
Apparently, on October 12, 2018, Illinois Securities Department issued Lopez a Temporary Order of Suspension and Prohibition #: 1800493. Notably, the Department alleged that Lopez engaged in deceptive actions with regard to variable annuities and mutual funds transactions.
