Suspended Massachusetts Broker, BRUCE COLIN WORTHINGTON, Charged in $100K Misappropriation

AFIN American Finance Trust

BRUCE COLIN WORTHINGTON (CRD#: 2193895) was suspended by FINRA from acting as a broker on December 31, 2018.  According to FINRA, if Worthington fails to request termination of the suspension within three months of the date of the Notice of Suspension, he will automatically be barred on March 11, 2019, from association with any FINRA member in any capacity pursuant to FINRA Rule 9552(h).  Also on Worthington’s BrokerCheck report, there is a pending regulatory initiated by the Massachusetts Securities Division alleging, “Bruce C. Worthington misappropriated the funds of at least one Massachusetts investor.”  They are alleging that Worthington was running a 13-year scheme misappropriating funds from his client.
According to news reports, BRUCE COLIN WORTHINGTON, from Tewksbury, Massachusetts, allegedly withdrew approximately $100,000 from the accounts of his client for his own personal use by allegedly falsifying documents to make it appear to the client that the investments Worthington had recommended were performing well, but when the client was preparing for retirement, allegedly Worthington told the client his funds were not ready for withdrawal.  According to the reports, Worthington then eventually stopped replying to his client completely.
The reports also go on to say that Worthington allegedly failed to disclose to his client that he had been fired from Commonwealth Financial Network due to his credit history.  Worthington allegedly never updated his client on where he was working for nearly four years, Founders Financial Securities, LLC. Founders Financial discharged Worthington on September 20, 2018.  According to FINRA’s BrokerCheck, “The firm terminated its relationship with Mr. Worthington after concerns arose about his receipt and disposition of customer funds prior to his association with Founders Financial Securities, LLC.”
The Massachusetts Secretary of State’s office reported that Worthington failed to appear before the state’s Securities Division after he was subpoenaed in December of 2018. According to news reports the Secretary of State’s office alleges they will be referring this matter to federal law enforcement and they have added to the censure, a cease-and-desist and an administrative fine.  The Massachusetts Secretary of State’s office, according to reports, hopes to see BRUCE COLIN WORTHINGTON barred from operating in Massachusetts.
According to FINRA’s BrokerCheck, BRUCE COLIN WORTHINGTON, has 7 Disclosures on his report.  Worthington has been in the securities industry for 26 years and was listed with 3 firms, the 2 most recent are listed below:
