Soreide Law Group is reviewing potential investor disputes concerning securities broker Christopher Neil Watkins (CRD#: 4456445, Louisville, Kentucky). Namely, Watkins joined LPL Financial in 2011 as both a financial advisor and securities broker. He joined Silver Oaks Securities in December 2018 and Magnate Advisory Services in March 2019.
Notably, LPL Financial disaffiliated with Watkins in November 2018 because he supposedly improperly distributed advisor fees. During his registration at LPL Financial, Watkins supposedly caused damages to clients because of sales practice violations, according to two investor disputes on BrokerCheck. For more information on those disclosures, read below. However, keep in mind that Watkins denies the allegations against him.
LPL Financial Client Alleges That Christopher Watkins Made Unsuitable Recommendations Pertaining To BDCs
Evidently, a client of LPL Financial disputed Christopher Watkins's sales practices in June of 2022. According to the client, Watkins provided "unsuitable recommendations" regarding alternative investments. Supposedly, the client invested in business development company (BDC) products. For this reason, they ask for compensation in this ongoing matter. Watkins denies the allegations.
Client Alleges Unsuitable Advice On BDCs, REITs, Energy Funds
Also, an LPL Financial client brought an investment dispute about REITs (real estate investment trusts), BDCs, and energy funds. Supposedly, in this August 2019 FINRA Arbitration Claim, the client alleges that Christopher Watkins advised them to invest in a REIT and energy fund, resulting in damages. Because of this, LPL Financial opted to resolve this matter by paying $17,768.04 to the client. BrokerCheck indicates that Watkins contributed $4,999.00 towards settling this matter.
