Aclient of CRAIG DONALDSON HODGES (CRD#: 1714289) received an award granted by a FINRA arbitration panel (Arbitration No.17-02401) against Craig Hodges, Hodges' brokerage firm, Hodges Capital Management, and his investment advisory firm, First Dallas Securities.
According to FINRA’s BrokerCheck, which is available to the public on FINRA’s website, the client alleged: BREACH OF FIDUCIARY DUTY, BREACH OF CONTRACT, NEGLIGENCE AND UNSUITABLE INVESTMENTS.
These alleged claims were due to the alleged recommendations of Craig Hodges that the client, contrary to the client’s alleged stated risk tolerance and investment objectives, invest in high-risk oil and gas stocks, including Hercules Offshore, Legacy Reserves, and EV Energy, and Master Limited Partnerships (MLPs). A MLP is a limited partnership that is traded publicly on an exchange. If an MLP is owned in a retirement account, it can create unrelated business taxable income.
Hodges was allegedly paid an advisory fee to manage the client’s investments. The allegations stated that Hodges over concentrated the client's portfolios in oil & gas stock, which were much too aggressive for this particular client’s portfolio.
The Respondents deny all liability.
FINRA’s BrokerCheck states that Craig Hodges has 2 Disclosures on his report, both of them “Customer Disputes.” Hodges has been in the securities industry for 30 years and has been registered with the following firm since 12/5/1989:
FIRST DALLAS SECURITIES INCORPORATED
