Former South Carolina Broker JAMES TRAVIS FLYNN Barred by FINRA

JAMES TRAVIS FLYNN (JIM FLYNN) CRD#: 3082615 was barred by FINRA from acting as a broker or otherwise associating with a broker-dealer firm from September 4, 2018.   Allegedly, Flynn failed to request termination of his suspension within three months of the date of the Notice of Suspension; therefore, he was automatically barred from association with any FINRA member in all capacities.
According to FINRA’s BrokerCheck, JAMES TRAVIS FLYNN has 29 Disclosures on his report.  Of these 29 Disclosures, 22 are “Customer Disputes.” In 2003, FINRA conducted a review of the CRD’s of all 663,000 registered representatives, only 2,751 (.41%) had been the subject of (3) or more customer complaints. Flynn’s customer complaints rank him in the top one-hundredth percent of all registered representatives for customer complaints. 
In December of 2016, a Customer Dispute, “alleges they should not have been allowed to invest all retirement funds into Prudential annuities in 2010 and REIT type investments should not have been recommended/purchased in 2015 with proceeds of surrendered annuity due to age.”  The settlement amount was $196,788.18.
In January of 2017, one of the Customer Disputes settled for $12,500.00, following allegations that, "Client alleges that the REIT product was unsuitable for him given his networth and investment experience and that he was unaware that he would not receive back the full value of the REIT if he liquidated it early during the tender period.”
In May of 2017, a Customer Dispute settled following allegations that,Customer questioned suitability of REIT investments and the replacement of a variable annuity policy. REITs were purchased in 2014 and 2015.”  The damage amount requested was $115,000.00 and the settlement amount was $167,673.17.
In May of 2018, a Customer Dispute alleged, “Customer alleges the recommendation for the alternative investment product purchased in June 2014 in his IRA and joint account was not suitable for his goals and objectives.”  The settlement amount was $75,000.00.
This was a sampling of the disputes listed.  Of the 22 Customer Disputes, there are four Customer Disputes still “Pending.”
According to BrokerCheck, JAMES TRAVIS FLYNN was in the securities industry for 18 years and was listed with 11 firms.  The following four firms are the most recent:
