On September 23, 2026, a FINRA Hearing Officer issued a default decision in Case No. 2025087193401 that would bar Joel Benanti from the securities industry if it becomes final. The Hearing Officer found that Benanti violated FINRA Rules 8210 and 2010 by failing to provide documents and information requested during an investigation into possible undisclosed outside business activities and private securities transactions away from Network 1.
FINRA Requested Records From Joel Benanti During Its Investigation
FINRA sought records and information under Rule 8210. FINRA sent its first request on October 22, 2025. Benanti acknowledged receiving it and obtained an extension to November 19, 2025, but did not provide the requested material. FINRA sent a second request on November 21, 2025, with a December 8, 2025 deadline. A third request followed on December 23, 2025, with a January 8, 2026 deadline. According to the decision, Benanti did not respond to either follow-up request.
Complaint And Default Decision
FINRA Enforcement filed a complaint on April 21, 2026, alleging violations of Rules 8210 and 2010. Benanti did not answer by June 8, 2026, or respond to Enforcement’s default motion. The Hearing Officer therefore treated the complaint’s allegations as admitted for the proceeding.
FINRA alleged that Benanti’s failure to provide the requested material hindered its investigation. The September 23 default decision imposed a bar in all capacities based on his failure to provide that material. BrokerCheck says the September 23, 2026 decision will become final on October 19, 2026, unless further action is taken.
