According to the FINRA report, an Acceptance, Waiver and Consent (AWC) was issued in which John Joseph Cahill was barred from association with any FINRA member in all capacities on January 2, 2020.

Without admitting or denying FINRA’s findings, John Joseph Cahill consented to the sanction and to the entry of findings that he refused to provide documents and information and to appear and provide on-the-record testimony requested by FINRA in connection with an investigation into allegations that he commingled and/or converted funds belonging to, and served as power-of-attorney for, an elderly individual who was his client while he was associated with his former member firm.

John Joseph Cahill was formerly registered with Janney Montgomery Scott LLC of Upper Saddle River, New Jersey. According to FINRA’s BrokerCheck Report, John J. Cahill was discharged from Janney Montgomery Scott in March of 2019, following allegations that he was, “Discharged while under Internal Review regarding Registered Representative’s receipt of funds while acting as POA for a client Registered Representative serviced at prior firm.”

In August of 2013, according to BrokerCheck, Cahill voluntarily resigned from Morgan Stanley Wealth Management following allegations that, “Employee’s compliance with requirement to contact client prior to executing securities transaction.”
