Evidently, on February 20, 2025, FINRA issued Case: 2023080049001 sanctioning Justin Funakura with a six-month suspension in all capacities, a $10,000 fine, and an order to disgorge $4,000 plus interest. FINRA alleged that Funakura engaged in private securities transactions without approval from his firm, Farmers Financial Solutions LLC.
Between August 2021 and April 2022, Funakura introduced nine investors (one of which was a client of the securities broker dealer) to a company that claimed to run investment programs and crypto asset mining. He reportedly facilitated investments totaling $120,000 through promissory notes for commissions. Supposedly, he also provided information about the offering to investors. The company defaulted on the notes, and later the Illinois Secretary of State’s Securities Department took legal action against the company. FINRA also determined that Funakura provided false answers on compliance questionnaires by denying involvement in private securities transactions or receipt of outside compensation, which led to violations of FINRA Rules 3280 and 2010.
Evidently, Farmers Financial Solutions LLC disaffiliated with Funakura on October 17, 2023. Allegedly, Funakura failed to give written notice to the firm about proposed private securities transactions. The firm indicated that he violated its policy and FINRA rules.
