MARAT LIKHTENSTEIN was barred by FINRA from acting as a broker or otherwise associating with a broker/dealer firm on 8/5/2024. He was previously registered both as a broker and as an investment advisor. He was a broker with OSAIC WEALTH INC of Brooklyn, New York from 11/02/2018 - 06/27/2024.
According to the FINRA report, without admitting or denying FINRA’s findings, MARAT LIKHTENSTEIN consented to the sanction and to the entry of findings that he allegedly refused to provide documents and information and to appear for on-the-record testimony requested by FINRA in connection to its investigation of comments made on a Form U5 filing by his member firm. FINRA’s findings stated that Likhtenstein was discharged because he failed to disclose personal loan transactions with a client.
In a recent article from Barron’s, they write that MARAT LIKHTENSTEIN is facing 22 criminal counts in connection with an alleged Ponzi scheme that bilked investors out of more than $1.2 million. According to the article, MARAT LIKHTENSTEIN, 64, entered a plea of not guilty in Brooklyn Superior Court to the 22 counts. The charges include larceny, scheme to defraud, and violations of New York’s General Business Law. The Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said, “This defendant allegedly stole hundreds of thousands of dollars by persuading unsuspecting individuals to invest with false promises of high returns. Investors should be mindful that guaranteed high returns—especially without clear business details—are often a red flag. We will now seek to hold this defendant accountable and secure justice for those affected.”
According to FINRA’s BrokerCheck, MARAT LIKHTENSTEIN was in the securities industry for 30 years and was listed with 5 firms. Likhtenstein has 2 disclosures on his FINRA CRD report. One is the “Regulatory” barring him from the industry and the other is an “Employment Separation after Allegations.” On 6/7/2024, OSAIC WEALTH INC discharged MARAT LIKHTENSTEIN following the allegations of, “Failure to disclose personal loan transactions with a client.”
