On November 17, 2022, the State of Minnesota Department of Commerce concluded Case: 2909, sanctioning Mark Bierdeman with $3,000 in fines. The action stemmed from his employment at Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC, where he allegedly recommended an unsuitable life insurance policy replacement for a client.

Evidently, a client of Ameriprise Financial Services Inc. disputed Mark Bierdeman's sales practices by filing FINRA Arbitration: 09-05992. Specifically, the client alleged that Bierdeman sold her an unsuitable variable universal life insurance policy around September 2008 and improperly withheld taxes on her IRA withdrawals, causing her an unexpected tax liability. The client asked for $60,000 in compensatory damages. Consequently, Ameriprise chose to settle the matter on August 3, 2010, by compensating the client $23,185. However, Bierdeman contributed nothing to the settlement amount.

Bierdeman Disclosed Dispute By Ameriprise Financial Services Inc. Client

A client of Ameriprise Financial Services Inc. filed a complaint on April 22, 2009. The client alleged that Mark Bierdeman did not properly disclose the cost of insurance and loan stipulations for a policy. The client claimed damages amounting to $20,605. Namely, the complaint was denied by Ameriprise on September 8, 2009, stating that the recommended policy was in line with the client's goals and objectives, and that appropriate disclosures had been made.
