Soreide Law Group has filed a FINRA arbitration on behalf of our client (Claimant) against:
MARK JEFFREY GRANT,
B. RILEY WEALTH MANAGEMENT, and
COLLIERS SECURITIES, LLC. (Respondents)
The Claimant is in her seventies, retired, and living in Florida. She made the following claims against the Respondents, MARK JEFFREY GRANT (GRANT, MARK J GRANT), B. RILEY WEALTH MANAGEMENT, (B. RILEY) and COLLIERS SECURITIES, LLC, (COLLIERS).
The Claimant first met with broker, MARK J GRANT, in 2018 while he was with B. RILEY. According to the lawsuit, the Claimant was looking to preserve her assets and generate a safe and stable income to sustain her through retirement. The lawsuit alleges that her stated risk objective was conservative. Furthermore, it claims she made the Respondents aware she had very limited to no knowledge about investing.
The lawsuit alleges the Claimant was reliant upon broker MARK J GRANT for her investment recommendations. The Claimant maintained an IRA and a taxable account with the Respondents. According to the lawsuit, MARK J GRANT allegedly began managing approximately $1.1 million the Claimant had transferred in from another account. Later, a subsequent $50K was transferred in from an IRA. The lawsuit alleges that GRANT recommended high yield junk bond funds and private credit funds consisting of low-quality credit. He also recommended high risk MLPs, Linked Notes, and other unsuitable high-risk investments.
The lawsuit states that MARK J GRANT left B. RILEY in April 2022 to join COLLIERS. According to the lawsuit, GRANT allegedly continued to add more exposure to high-risk unsuitable products that continued to compound the loss. Additionally, GRANT allegedly continued to hang onto the losing products he invested in at B. RILEY. Many of those products continued to drop. Eventually, the Claimant pulled her money away from MARK J GRANT and moved it to new management.
The lawsuit alleges the Claimant has sustained over $653,000.00 in realized losses to her irreplaceable retirement savings. The lawsuit is claiming negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract and negligent supervision. Currently, no answer has been filed, and it is anticipated they will deny all allegations.
According to FINRA’s BrokerCheck, available to the public on FINRA’s website, MARK J GRANT has 50 years of experience in the securities industry and has been listed with 10 firms. He is currently listed with A.G.P. / ALLIANCE GLOBAL PARTNERS of New York, NY since 11/12/2025. There is one disclosure, a settled “Customer Dispute” listed on GRANT’s FINRA CRD report dated 5/18/2011. The dispute settled for $49,000.00.
