Matthew Gafoa Fetui III, also known as Gafoa Matthew Fetui III (CRD: 5511717), is a securities broker in Costa Mesa, California, involved in a client arbitration concerning alleged investment losses, according to Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) BrokerCheck disclosures. Fetui worked for U.S. Bancorp Investments from May 10, 2019, to February 16, 2024. He joined Wells Fargo Clearing Services and Wells Fargo Advisors on February 9, 2024. Here is what the client alleges.

Wells Fargo Client Alleges Matthew Fetui Made Unsuitable ETF Recommendations

On April 9, 2026, a Wells Fargo Clearing Services client filed FINRA Arbitration No. 26-00779 involving Matthew Fetui. The client alleged Fetui made unsuitable recommendations involving exchange-traded funds (ETFs) during August 2024. The client claims to have suffered losses on the ETF investments and is seeking more than $7,000,000 in compensation from Wells Fargo Clearing Services or Fetui. The arbitration is pending.

Understanding Unsuitable ETF Trading

Unsuitable trading in ETFs generally means recommending ETF transactions that do not reasonably fit a client’s investment profile. Securities brokers and financial advisors consider factors such as investment objectives, risk tolerance, financial circumstances, time horizon, liquidity needs, and existing holdings before making recommendations. Concerns can arise if an ETF is the wrong type of investment for the client, is too risky or complex, makes up too much of the portfolio, or is traded too often. Whether a recommendation was unsuitable depends on the circumstances of the investor’s account and what the broker recommended.
