What Is Unsuitable Advice?

Unsuitable advice generally refers to recommendations made by a securities broker or financial advisor that do not match a client's financial needs, risk tolerance, investment objectives, or overall circumstances. Brokers are expected to have a reasonable basis for recommendations. When an investment strategy is inconsistent with a client's profile, investors may face risks or losses they were not prepared to accept.
