JOHN HOFF RUSSELL Client Awarded $800K

Family Broker Fraud

JOHN HOFF RUSSELL (CRD#: 728702), according to the FINRA report, was named in a customer complaint that asserted the following causes of action: breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, securities fraud, negligence, conspiracy, material misrepresentations and omissions, and violation of FINRA Rules 3110, 3120, and 3130. A Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Inc. (FINRA) arbitration panel awarded $800,000 in compensatory damages, which charged JOHN HOFF RUSSELL, a Stifel Nicolaus & Co broker from Clayton, Missouri, with fraud.
FINRA alleged that the causes of action relate to the Claimant's estranged, and now deceased, husband and JOHN HOFF RUSSELL, who allegedly used subterfuge to obtain the Claimant's consent to transactions that removed assets from accounts, in which Claimant had an interest, to benefit a third party.
The widow further alleges that as a result of JOHN HOFF RUSSELL's actions, alone and in concert with the Decedent, and because of Russell's failure to provide Claimant or her attorney with material information, the Claimant and her children were left substantially disinherited from the majority of the Decedent's financial assets that had been provided for them under his and Claimant's estate plans.
The widow, who resides in St. Louis, had requested compensatory damages in excess of $3 million and punitive damages of more than $1 million.
JOHN HOFF RUSSELL had requested expungement of the matter from his FINRA record but was denied.
According to FINRA’s BrokerCheck, JOHN HOFF RUSSELL currently has 3 disclosures on his CRD report, all 3 are Customer Disputes.  Russell has been in the securities industry for 38 years and was listed with 6 firms.  He is currently listed with the following firm since November 11, 1988:
