Securities Broker Brittney Sias (Western International Securities) Involved In Investor Disputes
Soreide Law Group has news to share with you in regard to securities broker Brittney Jade Sias (CRD#: 4274432, Westlake Village, California), who also goes by the name Rosalie Sias. Notably, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”) shows that two investors filed disputes about the securities broker. This specifically refers to Sias’ actions at Western International Securities Inc. (her employer from April 2013 to October 2017). Not only that, but FINRA barred Sias as securities broker for alleged misconduct during an investigation in 2017. The investor disputes and FINRA’s regulatory action are explained below.
Western International Securities Client Alleges Unsuitable Private Placement Transaction Because Of Brittney Sias
Notably, a March 2020 FINRA Arbitration Claim contains allegations of unsuitable transactions. Evidently, the client of Western International Securities alleged that Brittney Sias made unsuitable recommendations of a non-traded real estate investment trust (REIT) and private placement. It appears that the investments potentially did not align with the client’s suitability profile (investment goals, risk tolerance, liquidity needs). This matter is ongoing, and the client asked for as much as $500,000 in compensation.
Western International Securities Client Alleges Breach Of Fiduciary Duty, Misrepresentations
Evidently, a second client of Western International Securities disputed Brittney Sias’ sales practices in March 2018. Namely, the client claimed in this matter that Sias breached a fiduciary duty to them regarding alternative investments. Secondly, the securities broker is accused of making unsuitable investment recommendations which included advising the client on an investment strategy that caused damages. Thirdly, the client claimed that the broker misrepresented and omitted something relating to the investments. Because of this, Western International Securities agreed in August 2018 to pay the client $100,000 to settle this matter.
FINRA Bars Brittney Sias Over Alleged Misconduct During Investigation
Notably, FINRA barred Brittney Sias to resolve allegations that she violated FINRA rules during its investigation. It appears that FINRA wanted Sias’ documents and information in April 2017. The broker responded but only partially. Because of this, the financial industry watchdog asked her to supplement that response, but she did not comply. After continued requests, FINRA determined that Sias refused to cooperate in the investigation. For this reason, she is not allowed to be a securities broker with FINRA member firms as of October 5, 2017. Evidently, Western International Securities reportedly discharged her on that date for this reason.
