Securities Broker Curt Howard Allegedly Caused Investor Losses
Soreide Law Group is reviewing whether to take legal action on behalf of investors against securities broker Curtis Lee Howard (CRD#: 1390753, Sapulpa, Oklahoma). Mainly, FINRA BrokerCheck shows that the securities broker is involved in two investment disputes. Not only that, but Edward Jones – Howard’s employer from 1985 to 2017 – disaffiliated with him for being unprofessional. Here’s more.
Edward Jones Client Indicates Curt Howard Was Negligent And Breached Fiduciary Duty
First of all, a client of Edward Jones brought a lawsuit on July 26, 2018 regarding Curt Howard. First of all, Curt Howard purportedly violated his fiduciary responsibility to the client, placing his interests ahead of the client’s interests when recommending or selling investments. Secondly, Howard supposedly acted negligently and possibly deceptively by concealing information from the client and by not doing business fairly. Thirdly, the client suggested that Howard breached a contract and caused the client distress when he handled the client’s account. For this reason, the client demands $1,000,000 in damages in this ongoing matter. As of August 8, 2020, this matter awaits a resolution.
Client Of Edward Jones Indicates That Howard Failed To Explain Death Benefit Drawbacks
Apparently, a client of Edward Jones contested Curt Howard’s actions through a complaint from 2008. Mainly, the client suggested that Howard sold a variable annuity whose death benefit dropped by nearly 99 percent in value because of a reassessment that Howard never told the client about. Apparently, Howard did not explain the risk to the death benefit value when the client purchased the policy. However, Edward Jones denied the complaint.
Edward Jones Disaffiliates With Howard
Evidently, in 2017, Curt Howard’s “professionalism and judgement” cost him his job. He was discharged by the securities firm because of its concerns relating to his ability to do his job. It is possible that his misconduct might have affected Edward Jones clients.
