SYLVESTER KING JR (CRD# 4011622) of Miramar, Florida, has agreed to a $35,000 fine and an 18-month ban from the securities industry. According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), King, Jr. allegedly helped another broker conceal hundreds of thousands of dollars of customer loans. Some of the loans went to professional NBA and NFL athletes. Along with his partner, FINRA alleges that Sylvester King, Jr. helped make and conceal loans of approximately $399,500 to three athletes in the NBA and NFL.
Allegedly, Sylvester King, Jr. and a business partner formed PKG in 2009. PKG was a financial services firm in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. PKG provided services to professional athletes in the NBA and NFL.
Sylvester King, Jr. was a registered representative at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC in Fort Lauderdale from June 2009 through October 2011, when he went to Wells Fargo LLC also in Ft. Lauderdale. The allegations occurred at Wells Fargo, when King, Jr. reportedly helped his partner conceal loans from the firm. Sylvester King, Jr. also allegedly loaned $25,000 without his firm's permission, and participated in a transaction in which firm customers invested more than $3 million.
