Gilbert Conrad Named In Pending Claims At Independent Financial And Summit
Summit Brokerage and Independent Financial Group each appear on a pending customer claim naming Gilbert Conrad (CRD 2746778). Both claims are unproven allegations. His BrokerCheck report also lists settled disputes at Arkadios Capital and Independent Financial Group.
How Did The Arkadios Capital Claim Against Gilbert Conrad Settle?
According to BrokerCheck, the Arkadios Capital dispute settled on May 28, 2026 for $37,500. The customer's claim, filed October 23, 2023 under docket 23-03089, sought $1,000,000 over non-traded REIT or real estate investments. The report lists Gilbert Conrad's individual contribution as $0.00.
In a statement on the disclosure, the firm said the claim names multiple firms as respondents. Its initial review found that only a few of the challenged investments came during the representative's time at IFG. The firm said those were "in line with Claimant's stated objectives and risk tolerance."
Overconcentration And The Earlier Independent Financial Group Settlement
An earlier dispute alleged overconcentration in products that were not suitable. That claim dates to October 5, 2023 (docket 23-02737) and sought $1,000,000 over non-traded REIT or real estate holdings. Gilbert Conrad's report shows it settled on January 6, 2025 for $75,000.
Overconcentration means too much of an account sits in one product type, sector or issuer. With non-traded REITs, that risk stacks on top of limited liquidity. In our files, a chart of each product's share of the account over time is often the clearest exhibit.
What Do The Pending Claims Naming Gilbert Conrad Allege?
Docket 25-02498 lists Independent Financial Group as the firm, with a filing date of November 14, 2025 and $415,000 in alleged damages. The product is a non-traded REIT or real estate investment. According to the disclosure, the statement of claim alleges the investments were not suitable.
In a statement on BrokerCheck, the firm said its initial investigation "did not reveal evidence to support the claims" on suitability. It added that the claimant had invested in this type of product before and that its review will continue as the case progresses.
Summit Brokerage is the firm on the other pending claim, filed May 21, 2024. That claimant seeks $1,500,000 over an alternative investment under docket 23-03595 and alleges unsuitable investments. No arbitrator has ruled on either pending claim against Gilbert Conrad.
Concentration Risk In Plain Terms
Overconcentration means putting too much of an account into one stock, one sector or one type of product. When that holding falls, the whole account falls with it. A broker's recommendations have to fit the customer's investment profile. That profile includes age, other holdings, risk tolerance, liquidity needs and time horizon. As a result, a large position that suits one investor can be wrong for a retiree who needs steady income. When we review a claim like this, the account statements usually tell the story. They show how large the position grew, and for how long.
