Howard Douglas Facing Client Allegations At Osaic Wealth, Equitable Advisors

Investors apparently complained about securities broker Howard Jeffrey Douglas [CRD: 1043662, Dix Hills, New York], according to disclosures on FINRA BrokerCheck. Apparently, Douglas worked for Equitable Advisors LLC from June 1, 2005, to December 7, 2021. He subsequently registered with APS Wealth Management LLC, American Portfolios Advisors Inc., American Portfolios Financial Services Inc., and currently with Osaic Wealth Inc. since October 11, 2024. Osaic Wealth Inc. Investor Accused Douglas Of Omitting Material Facts

Also, a client filed a complaint about Howard Douglas. The client alleged that Douglas made unsuitable recommendations and omitted material facts regarding the risks of a real estate investment trust purchased in 2014. Because of this, the client allegedly sustained damages on real estate securities. Consequently, on December 20, 2024, Equitable Advisors LLC settled this matter by paying the client $13,000 in damages.

Howard Douglas Disclosed Unsuitable Recommendations Allegations By Equitable Advisors LLC Client

Specifically, a client of Equitable Advisors LLC contested Howard Douglas’s sales practices, according to a complaint dated September 27, 2023. Allegedly, Douglas made unsuitable recommendations and did not complete the client’s annuity application to reflect guaranteed protection. Supposedly Douglas caused the client to sustain damages on variable annuities. Therefore, the client sought damages from Equitable Advisors LLC or Douglas in this matter. The firm denied this complaint.

Douglas Resigned From Equitable Over Discretionary Trading Allegations

Also, on November 30, 2021, Equitable Advisors LLC disaffiliated with Douglas. Evidently, Equitable Advisors LLC alleged that Douglas engaged in trading within an investment advisory accounts and reviewed an account after the death of a client.
