JOSEPH PATRICK ROOP REIT Sales

Soreide Law Group has been contacted by clients and former clients, mainly from North Carolina, who sustained investment losses due to the alleged illiquid REITs purchased primarily at Kalos Capital of Belmont, North Carolina, through broker: 
JOSEPH PATRICK ROOP (JOEPAT ROOP) CRD#: 2774470
According to FINRA’s BrokerCheck, available to the public on FINRA’s website, JOSEPH PATRICK ROOP has been registered in the securities industry for 23 years and was listed with 7 firms. Roop has 7 Disclosures on his CRD report, and all are “Customer Disputes” dating back to 2008.
In July of 2019, there was a Customer Dispute filed against JOSEPH PATRICK ROOP alleging, “Client alleges unsuitable investments in alternative securities (REITS, etc.) during the time period 11/2012 to 05/2017.”  The damage amount requested is $450,000. This dispute is currently pending.
According to FINRA’s BrokerCheck, the other 6 Customer Disputes have all settled. Some of the settlements were as follows:
In July of 2018, the listed allegations were, “Clients allege unsuitable investments and sale of securities by a rep that was not properly registered in the State of Alabama. Approximate time period of all investments was January 2011 - July 2014.”  The settlement amount was $90,000.00.
In August of 2010, FINRA lists the allegations against JOSEPH PATRICK ROOP as, “Clients opened account in 2002 with Roop and during the course of their five year relationship, Roop was at three firms (Legg Mason, Banc of America Securities, and Wachovia). Client alleges negligent misrepresentation, fraudulent misrepresentation, fraud in the inducement, unsuitability, breach of contract, and breach of fiduciary duty. Roop denies all allegations.”  The settlement amount was $135,000.00.
In February of 2009, the allegations were, “Client alleged unsuitable options trades placed in his account.  Damages unspecified but believed to exceed $5000 (07/18/2008 - 01/20/2009).” The settlement amount in this case was $85,000.00.
JOSEPH PATRICK ROOP, according to FINRA’s BrokerCheck, was registered with KALOS CAPITAL, INC of Belmont, North Carolina from April 1, 2009 until July 22 of 2019.
Roop is currently registered since 7/22/2019 with:
