TAMARA RAE STEELE (TAMARA STEELE, TAMMIE STEELE) CRD#: 3227494, was permanently barred on Friday, June 5, 2020, by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Steele, the owner of an Indianapolis-based investment advisory firm, Steele Financial Inc., was charged with fraud.
According to the press release, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana also entered a judgment against TAMARA STEELE and her firm, Steele Financial Inc., which included $845,760 of disgorgement, a $75,000 civil penalty, and Steele agreed to shut down Steele Financial Inc.
According to the SEC, in 2018 they charged that between 2012 and 2016, TAMARA STEELE and her firm sold $15 million of Behavioral Recognition Systems Inc. securities, which is a company the SEC charged with fraud in 2017. The SEC claimed that $13 million worth of the securities were sold to 120 of the firm’s clients.
The SEC stated that TAMARA STEELE and her firm earned over $2.5 million in commissions from the securities sales but she did not disclose the commissions. She allegedly submitted phony invoices in an attempt to conceal her actions from the SEC.
According to FINRA’s BrokerCheck, TAMARA STEELE, has 15 Disclosures on her CRD report. Of the 15 Disclosures, 13 are Customer Disputes. Some of the many alleged complaints were, “outside business activities and selling away; unsuitable investments and negligent account management; violations of the Indiana Securities Act; Violation of Registered Investment Advisor Section of Indiana Securities Act; sale of unregistered and non-exempt securities; breach of fiduciary duty; violations of the FINRA Conduct Rules and NYSE Board Rules; and negligence and negligent supervision.”
