Tony Morris Resigns From Lincoln, Facing Disputes

2021 Client Champion Award

Securities Broker Torry Morris (Lincoln Investment, Investors Capital Corp) In Disputes Alleging Sales Practice Violations

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”) BrokerCheck report for securities broker Anthony Ryan Morris “Tony Morris” (CRD#: 2849581, El Paso, Texas) shows that his employer, Lincoln Investment (El Paso, Texas), permitted him to resign amid allegations of violating policy. BrokerCheck also shows that Morris is involved in investor disputes alleging that he caused damages to Investors Capital Corp clients through sales practice violations relating to variable annuities. Here’s more on these disputes.

Lincoln Investment Allows Tony Morris To Resign Following Allegations Of Misconduct

Evidently, BrokerCheck shows that Lincoln Investment permitted Tony Morris to resign in August 2020. Mainly, the company alleged that Morris violated firm policies. Supposedly, Morris committed misconduct as a trustee over two client accounts. Also, he seemingly failed to tell Lincoln Investment about complaints. Finally, the securities firm says that Morris did not timely adhere to a branch examination.

Investors Capital Corp Client Alleges Unsuitable Recommendations

Notably, a client of Investors Capital Corp brought a dispute about Tony Morris. In the December 2019 complaint, the client alleged that they bought an annuity because of Morris. Supposedly, the client moved forward with the annuity so that his spouse could receive income from it following the client’s death. However, the client claims that the income rider on the variable annuity stops making payments following his death. Evidently, the client discontinued this matter as of February 2020.

Client Alleges Tony Morris Failed To Provide Adequate Disclosures On Annuity

Also, an Investors Capital Corp client brought a complaint to the firm’s attention about Tony Morris in October 2016. It seems that the client invested in a variable annuity but did not have all information about the investment beforehand. This client also alleges misrepresentation in connection with this annuity purchase. However, Investors Capital Corp denied this dispute.

Prior Disputes About Morris Come From ICC Clients

FINRA BrokerCheck shows that two other Investors Capital Corp clients filed disputes relating to Tony Morris. In the 2009 case, the client argued that they experienced investments losses and that the company failed to process a transfer. ICC settled this FINRA Arbitration Claim by making a $35,000 payment to the client. And the fourth ICC client’s complaint involved allegations of Tony Morris’ failure to provide a prospectus or a contract for their annuity policy.
