Matthew Mitchell Chancey, also known as Matt Chancey (CRD# 5645874), is a securities broker based in Plano, Texas. His Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) BrokerCheck record lists a pending client dispute alleging sales practice violations. Chancey was registered with Realta Equities from November 24, 2021, to July 6, 2026, and with Realta Investment Advisors from December 8, 2021, to July 6, 2026. He has been registered with Crescent Securities Group since July 8, 2026. Here’s what the client alleges.

Realta Client Alleges Matthew Chancey Gave Unsuitable Advice

On March 3, 2026, a Realta Equities client filed FINRA Arbitration No. 26-00489 involving Matthew Chancey. The client alleged that Chancey gave inappropriate investment advice. The client claimed to have suffered losses involving alternative investments because of the alleged advice. For this reason, the client sought between $100,000 and $500,000 in compensatory damages from Realta Equities or Chancey. The arbitration remains pending.

What Does Unsuitable Advice Generally Mean?

Unsuitable advice generally refers to investment recommendations that do not reasonably fit a client’s financial situation, investment objectives, risk tolerance, age, liquidity needs, tax circumstances, or other relevant factors. Securities brokers and financial advisors are generally expected to understand a client’s circumstances before making recommendations. A recommendation may raise suitability concerns when the risks, costs, concentration, complexity, or expected holding period do not align with the client’s circumstances. Whether advice was unsuitable depends on the specific facts, applicable rules, and evidence.
