Securities Broker Thomas Hunt (Wells Fargo) Involved In Investor Dispute Alleging Sales Practice Violations

Soreide Law Group comes to you with new information regarding securities broker Thomas Boley Hunt (CRD#: 1323743, Twin Falls, Idaho). Before joining LPL Financial LLC as a financial advisor and securities broker in August 2018, Hunt worked for securities firms Wells Fargo and Salomon Smith Barney Inc. It appears that clients of Wells Fargo disputed Hunt’s sales practices, alleging unsuitable transactions and breach of fiduciary duty. Here’s more on the investor disputes.

Wells Fargo Advisors Client Alleges Unsuitable Transactions By Thomas Hunt

Thomas Hunt is involved in a dispute from May 2020 where a Wells Fargo client alleges suitability. It appears that from September 2016 to May 2020, Hunt engaged in unsuitable trading. It appears that Hunt's trading in a non-managed account resulted in damages. Hunt denies the client's allegations, contending that he took excellent care of the client before departing the firm. Evidently, Wells Fargo Advisors settled this dispute by paying $20,000 to the client. The company made no admission of liability.

Salomon Smith Barney Client Alleges Unauthorized Trading

In addition, BrokerCheck shows that a client of Salomon Smith Barney complained about Thomas Hunt. First of all, the client alleges Hunt engaged in unsuitable trading of over-the-counter equities. Secondly, Hunt purportedly made unauthorized trades. Thirdly, the client alleges breach of fiduciary duty and negligence by Salomon Smith Barney in connection with over-the-counter equities transactions. For this reason, Salomon Smith Barney agreed to compensate the client in the amount of $80,000 to settle this matter.

Thomas Hunt’s Client Alleges Churning, Unauthorized Trading At Salomon Smith Barney

Moreover, a client of Salomon Smith Barney took issue with Thomas Hunt's trading of over-the-counter equities, alleging churning and unauthorized trading. Basically, churning is when a securities broker trades mainly to generate commissions or sales charges from the client. It appears that without admitting liability, Salomon Smith Barney settled with the client by making a $5,000 payment.
